A Vancouver rare plant shop for Canadian collectors
Vancouver Rare Plants is a Vancouver, BC–based online shop for collectors chasing the plants nobody else has. Our specialty is variegated Alocasia, rare Begonias, variegated Monstera, and collector Philodendron.
Everything here is small-batch and quality-checked. We don't do mass imports or mystery cuttings: the plant in the product photo is the exact plant that ships to you, inspected leaf by leaf before it leaves. If you're hunting a specific variety, follow @vancouverrareplants on Instagram - that's where one-of-one drops get announced first.
Why buy rare plants from a Canadian seller
Ordering rare plants from overseas usually means customs delays, surprise border fees, and phytosanitary paperwork — plus a plant that spends weeks in a dark box. Buying from a
Canadian seller skips all of that. Your plant travels domestically, arrives in days instead of weeks, and lands healthier for it.
Our plants are acclimated, meaning they're grown and settled in Canadian indoor conditions — not fresh imports still in shock from a greenhouse on another continent. An acclimated plant adjusts to your home faster, pushes new growth sooner, and is far less likely to melt on you in the first month. That's the quiet advantage of buying local-ish: the plant was already living the life you're about to give it.
Packed like it matters, shipped Canada-wide
Every order ships in its pot, secured so nothing slides around, with padding to protect the leaves and "live plant" handling marked on the box. In cold months we add insulation and heat packs
based on the forecast along your route — and if conditions look genuinely risky, we'll hold your order until it's safe and let you know, rather than gamble with your plant.
We ship anywhere in Canada with tracking, and local pickup in Richmond is available at checkout — just choose it and we'll message you to arrange a time. When your plant arrives, unbox it the
same day, check every leaf (front and back), hold off on water for the first day, and give it a week to settle before you even think about repotting. Plants travel stressed; let them land first.
One-of-one drops, honest care advice
Buying rare plants online shouldn't feel like a gamble. If your plant arrives damaged, send us a photo within 24 hours of delivery and we'll make it right with a replacement or refund — no
interrogation. Every plant is pest-inspected before it ships, and if you ever spot anything, tell us right away and we'll help you treat it.
New varieties land regularly, and the rarest ones go to the early access list first. Join the list below and follow @vancouverrareplants on Instagram — that's where restocks, new arrivals, and behind-the-scenes packing days all show up first.
