Nobilis Pink combines dramatic architectural foliage with unusual colour.

Its elongated, deeply lobed leaves have the distinctive kris or sword-like shape associated with Alocasia sanderiana. Bright silver-white veins stand out sharply against the dark foliage, while pink variegation creates an additional layer of contrast.

Depending on the individual leaf, the pink may appear as subtle blush marbling, scattered splashes, or bold sectors. New foliage can emerge lighter before gradually developing deeper green, pink, and dusty-rose tones as the leaf hardens.

No two leaves develop exactly the same pattern, making each plant visually unique.

PINK VARIEGATION & GROWTH

Alocasia Nobilis Pink typically develops into a compact, upright plant and produces new leaves one at a time.

The pink variegation is chimeric and naturally unpredictable. Some leaves may develop substantial pink sectors, while others may show softer marbling or more green tissue.

Future variegation cannot be guaranteed. The amount, intensity, and placement of pink may increase, decrease, or change with each new leaf.

Highly variegated pink or cream areas contain less chlorophyll and may be more susceptible to cosmetic browning than greener portions of the leaf.

CARE

Light: Bright, indirect light. Strong filtered light supports healthy growth and attractive colour. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which can scorch delicate variegated tissue.

Water: Allow the top 2–3 cm of substrate to begin drying before watering thoroughly. Let excess water drain completely and avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.

Humidity: Approximately 65–80% humidity with good airflow is preferred. A humidifier or grow cabinet can be especially useful during dry Canadian winters.

Temperature: Keep warm and stable, ideally around 20–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and prolonged temperatures below 16°C.

Substrate: Use a chunky, airy, fast-draining aroid mix containing materials such as orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and coco coir.

Fertilizer: Feed lightly every 3–4 weeks during active spring and summer growth. Reduce or pause feeding when growth slows.

Water quality: Filtered water or rainwater can be useful where tap water is particularly hard or mineral-heavy.

Toxicity: Like other Alocasia, this plant contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and children if ingestion is possible.

Alocasia sanderiana is native to the Philippines and is considered threatened in its natural habitat. Choosing nursery-propagated plants helps reduce demand for wild-collected specimens.
