Alocasia Azlanii Pink Variegated

Alocasia Azlanii Pink Variegated is an exceptionally rare jewel Alocasia prized for its metallic foliage, vivid magenta venation, and soft pink chimeric variegation. Native to Brunei, Alocasia azlanii naturally produces thick, glossy leaves that can shift between deep green, bronze, copper, purple, and near-black depending on the light and viewing angle.

The pink-variegated form adds another layer of colour. Blush pink sectors, marbling, and splashes blend into the plant’s naturally vibrant veins rather than creating the sharp white-and-green contrast seen in albo varieties.

Because the added pink variegation is naturally variable, every leaf develops differently and every specimen is unique.

Each plant is individually photographed — the exact plant shown in the product photos is the plant you will receive.

WHY COLLECTORS LOVE IT

Standard Alocasia azlanii is already one of the most colourful jewel Alocasia, known for its metallic foliage and vivid magenta veins. The pink-variegated form adds soft blush and pink sections that complement rather than overpower the plant’s natural colouring.

Depending on lighting and leaf maturity, the glossy foliage may appear green, bronze, copper, purple, burgundy, or nearly black. The undersides can develop rich reddish-maroon tones, adding even more depth.

Its naturally compact size makes Azlanii Pink especially suitable for plant cabinets, shelves, terrariums, and smaller rare plant collections.

PINK VARIEGATION & GROWTH

Alocasia Azlanii Pink Variegated is naturally compact and relatively slow-growing.

Its metallic base colour and distinctive magenta venation are characteristic features of A. azlanii, while the additional pink variegation is chimeric and unpredictable.

Some leaves may develop bold pink sectors, while others show subtle marbling, splashes, or predominantly darker foliage. New leaves often emerge softer and lighter before developing stronger metallic colour, venation, and contrast as they mature.

Future variegation cannot be guaranteed. The amount and placement of pink may increase, decrease, or change with each new leaf.

CARE

Light: Bright, indirect light. Strong filtered light helps support healthy growth and showcase the metallic colouring. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the foliage. Grow lights can be especially useful during darker Canadian winters.

Water: Water when the top approximately 2 cm of substrate begins to dry. Keep the growing medium lightly moist but never waterlogged, and allow excess water to drain completely.

Humidity: Approximately 65–85% humidity with good airflow is preferred. Azlanii generally appreciates higher humidity than many common Alocasia, making a grow cabinet or humidifier helpful in dry indoor conditions.

Temperature: Keep warm and stable, ideally around 18–26°C. Protect from cold drafts and prolonged temperatures below 15°C.

Substrate: Use a light, airy, fast-draining aroid mix containing materials such as orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and coco coir.

Fertilizer: Feed lightly during active spring and summer growth. Reduce or pause feeding when growth slows.

Water quality: Filtered or rainwater can help reduce mineral residue if your tap water is particularly hard.

Toxicity: Like other Alocasia, this plant contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and children if ingestion is possible.

AZLANII PINK VS. AZLANII ALBO PINK

Azlanii Pink develops additional pink variegation without the contrasting white sectors associated with albo forms.

Azlanii Albo Pink can display both white-to-cream and pink variegation.

Both retain the distinctive metallic foliage and magenta venation associated with Alocasia azlanii.
